The Winnipeg Transit Parking Garage & Service Facility is a major 135,000 sq. ft. infrastructure project designed to accommodate up to 153 forty-foot transit buses and support the City’s anticipated fleet growth for decades to come.
Constructed through a Design-Build process at an approximate project value of $22 million, the facility was completed in under two years and incorporated energy-efficient and environmentally responsible design features while targeting LEED® Silver Certification.
NTR Projects is proud to have contributed to a project of this scale and significance. Our experience on LEED® projects also allows us to assist project teams in providing the construction information and documentation required to support sustainability objectives and LEED certification requirements.
LEED® — Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design — is an internationally recognized standard for sustainable building design and construction.
Sustainability was an important part of the project from construction through material selection:
44 metric tonnes of construction waste were diverted from landfill and sent to recycling facilities.
25% of construction materials incorporated recycled content.
75% of construction materials were purchased or produced locally, helping reduce the environmental impact associated with transportation.
Large-scale construction. Long-term performance. Responsible building practices.
For industrial companies, the places where their work is carried out are their most important assets. These structures need to house and protect important equipment, raw materials, finished products and workers. So when it’s time to build, owners need to know that their contractors understand the importance of what goes on within the walls of a new industrial facility.
Here we aided in the construction of an expansion of the existing plant. In addition to extremely high walls, the expansion contained a control room, server room, flex room, training room, office spaces, conference rooms and a cafeteria which included large and complex bulkheads. We also had to extend the roof to accommodate three exit niches.
This modern facility at 2050 Chevrier Blvd. is light, bright and open. It houses space for services as well as shared community spaces.
High ceilings and airy spaces were a requirement in this project
Bright light floods the entrance, welcoming guests into this space
Even stairways were created to maintain that open and spacious feel
